Federico Bruera was born in Caracas, Venezuela and moved to Uruguay when he was nine years old. He is a guitarist and Cuban Tres player, guitar tutor, composer, lead performer, co-producer and radio presenter. Federico recorded and co-produced his first solo album ‘Fuera del Surco’ in 2003 (released on iTunes 2009), in collaboration with members of the Philharmonic Orchestra of Montevideo. In the previous year Federico collaborated with the Uruguayan artist Dúo Ba-Rock by releasing a song called ‘Sed De Rock’ for a recompilation album.

In 2003, Federico moved to the UK and settled in London, England, where he collaborated with some of the top artists/bands on the national and international Latin scene, such as David Pabón, Roberto Plá, Luis Lema and Elpidio Alegria Orquesta, to name a few. Federico was a co-composer along with James Preston (also the producer) of ‘Arms Open Wide’, the main soundtrack for the British made film ‘Adulthood’.

In 2017, Federico relocated to Scotland and joined the popular Cuban Son band ‘Son Sabroso’ and later co-created ‘La Formula Trio’ band. Federico is currently working on a new eclectic project, featuring some of the top musicians in Scotland with experience in diverse genres of music.

Federico has graduated from Napier University with a BA (Hons) Popular Music.

Federico’s preferred guitar method for popular music is the William Leavitt guitar method in three volumes, the renowned and basic text for the Berklee College of Music programme and in programmes universally. The first volume is also available in Spanish, French, and Italian

It provides a balanced combination between theory and practice.

Students will be able to learn how to read music, read guitar chords and learn theory applied to improvisation.
